Windows 10 Error 0xC1900106

This error will occur when the update install detects that the system firmware or drivers aren’t up to date.

  • If antivirus program is running on the computer, disable it during the upgrade process.
  • Run Windows Update to make sure that Windows is updated.
  • Make sure that the latest drivers and firmware are installed. To do this, go to the computer manufacturer’s website, or contact company support.
  • Ensure you have at least 16GB free disk space.

You may try these steps to reset the Windows Update components manually and check if it helps.

a. Press Windows key + X on the desktop screen of the computer.
b. Select Command Prompt (Admin)
c. On the open Command Prompt window copy and paste the commands (all at once).
net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
net start msiserver
pause

c. Exit the command prompt and check if it helps.
