Eclipse Mosquitto CONNECT Packet Processing Memory Leak Vulnerability [CVE-2017-7654]

CVE Number – CVE-2017-7654

A vulnerability in Eclipse Mosquitto could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to cause a denial of service (DoS) condition on a targeted system.

The vulnerability is due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input that is processed by the affected software. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a crafted CONNECT packet to a targeted system. A successful exploit could cause a memory leak, resulting in a DoS condition on the system.

Eclipse has confirmed the vulnerability and released software updates.
