Eclipse Mosquitto Configuration Reloading Failure Vulnerability [CVE-2017-7652]

A vulnerability in Eclipse Mosquitto could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to bypass security restrictions on a targeted system.

The vulnerability is due to a memory exhaustion condition in the affected software. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a SIGHUP signal to a targeted system to trigger a configuration reload. A successful exploit could cause a configuration reload failure, allowing the attacker to bypass security restrictions.

Eclipse has confirmed the vulnerability and released software updates.
