What is MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication)
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a security measure that requires users to provide two or more verification factors to access an account or application. Rather than relying on just a password, MFA strengthens security by combining multiple types of verification methods, such as:
- Something you know – like a password or PIN.
- Something you have – such as a mobile phone or hardware token.
- Something you are – like biometric data, such as fingerprints or facial recognition.
Using MFA makes it much harder for unauthorized users to gain access, even if they have your password.
