Trolltech Qt Virtual Keyboard Keystroke Logging Vulnerability [CVE-2018-19865]

CVE Number – CVE-2018-19865

A vulnerability in the Virtual Keyboard component of Trolltech Qt could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to access sensitive information on a targeted system.

The vulnerability is due to a keystroke logging issue that exists within the affected software. An attacker who can view the keystroke logs on a targeted system could exploit this vulnerability to gain access to sensitive information. An exploit could be used to conduct further attacks. 

Trolltech has confirmed the vulnerability and released software updates.

  • To exploit this vulnerability, the attacker may need access to the same internal, trusted network where the targeted system may reside, in order to gain access to the keystroke logs on the system. This access requirement may reduce the likelihood of a successful exploit.
