GNOME NetworkManager DNS Resolver Information Disclosure Vulnerability [CVE-2018-1000135]

A vulnerability in GNOME NetworkManager could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to access sensitive information on a targeted system.

The vulnerability exists in the DNS resolver component of the affected software when dnsmasq is used in DNS processing mode, and could result in private DNS queries being leaked to the local network DNS servers while on a VPN. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to access sensitive information from DNS queries. A successful exploit could be used to conduct further attacks.Proof-of-concept (PoC) code that demonstrates an exploit of this vulnerability is publicly available.GNOME has confirmed the vulnerability and released software updates.
