Russian telecom Beeline hit by cyberattack
Yesterday, a targeted distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack disrupted internet service for some Russians, affecting the telecom provider Beeline. This marks the second significant attack on the Moscow-based company in recent weeks.
Russia’s communications watchdog, Roskomnadzor, stated that subscribers in Moscow and nearby regions lodged numerous complaints about connectivity issues after yesterdays incident.
According to previous reports from Russian cyber experts, more than 30% of all DDoS attacks in Russia last year targeted telecommunications companies, with at least 90% linked to politically motivated threat actors.
“At present, Beeline specialists have eliminated the consequences of the DDoS attack. All of the operator’s services are operating normally,” Beeline later reported.
The company has not yet provided further details on the scope or impact of the attack.
