Lloyds, Halifax, TSB, Bank Of Scotland and First Direct banking apps down
Several of the UK’s largest banks have experienced online disruptions this morning, preventing many customers from accessing their funds on payday.
This marks the second consecutive month that major banks have faced IT issues around payday.
According to service outage site Downdetector, reports of problems surged for Lloyds Bank, Halifax, Nationwide, TSB, Bank of Scotland, and First Direct. DownDetector reported that more than 4,400 Lloyds customers registered issues just after 8am, plus more than 3,600 from Halifax customers.
Both Nationwide and First Direct confirmed issues with their online banking systems, leaving numerous customers unable to access their money.
Halifax and Bank of Scotland are part of the Lloyds Banking Group.
“We know some customers are having issues with internet banking and our apps,” a Lloyds Banking Group spokesperson told the BBC.
The banks said they are working to fix the issue and restore normal service.
