South East Technological University (SETU) Faces Cybersecurity Incident Affecting IT Systems

South East Technological University (SETU) has experienced a cybersecurity incident targeting its IT systems.

The incident was identified at the earliest possible stage and local IT team’s moved swiftly to safeguard the IT systems. They have informed relevant Government departments and authorities.

Currently, there is no evidence to suggest that any data or information has been compromised. However, they continue to monitor the situation closely as investigations are ongoing.

The internal IT team is liaising with external cyber security experts to resolve the issue and minimise any potential impact. However, staff and students may experience some disruption as they continue to work to resolve the issue. 

Established on May 1st 2022, South East Technological University (SETU) is Ireland’s fifth technological university, serving 18,500 students across its four campuses in Waterford, Carlow, Wexford, and Wicklow.
