Internet outage takes down thousands of websites [12-08-2024]
At around 2:30 PM today (Monday, August 12th 2024), the website DownDetector experienced a significant spike in reports indicating that Google and other major services were not functioning properly. It appears that the issues were reported on a global scale, with users encountering “error” or “unable to connect” messages when trying to send emails, check calendars, access websites or perform searches.
SystemTek can exclusively reveal that the cause of todays problems appears to relate to a power issue in London at the tech company Global Switch, they are a major network provider that have multi-customer data centres in Europe and Asia-Pacific. Basically internet traffic passes through their network before it reaches our PC’s.
Services appear now to be back online.
