Product: UPP Battery E-Bike Battery Packs sold via Amazon, AliBaba, eBay, Made in China and Desertcart
Hazard: The product presents a serious risk of fire as it is poorly built with poor welding to connect the components. The product also did not have a heat sensor to
prevent overheating, with the battery management system not sufficient to prevent the battery from entering thermal runaway. The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
Corrective action: The UK OPSS (Office for Product Safety and Standards) has issued Withdrawal Notices to distributors requiring that the product is removed from sale. Owners are advised to stop using the battery immediately and dispose of it safely via their local household waste disposal site. Consumers should check first with their local centre if they accept this type of battery.
