Five Great Advantages of Switching to An Electric Vehicle

Electric Vehicles EVs) are the transport of the future with the UK government planning to ban non-electric cars from the UK by 2035. However, you don’t have to wait until then as there are some great reasons to drive one now.

They Are Eco-Friendly

The most obvious one is that they are eco-friendly. They do not pollute the atmosphere in the same way that petrol or diesel vehicles do, meaning that they are kinder to the environment. They are also better for people who suffer from respiratory problems such as asthma and emphysema, and it is hoped that in the future the number of people suffering from these conditions will decrease.

They Are Cost-Effective

As the price of fuel rises to an all-time high, this is a good time to consider buying or leasing an electric car. Not only does it save you a fortune at the petrol pump but EVs contain so few parts that maintenance is simple and therefore more cost-effective. It has even been suggested that as they contain more technology than physical parts eventually, they will be maintained by tech experts rather than car mechanics. As outlined by ElectriX here, there is also standard and rapid charging available so if you’re on a long haul trip and need to cover a lot of mileage, you can soon have your vehicle charged up.

The initial outlay for an EV might be a little more but you could always save your money and consider leasing an EV rather than buying one.

They Are Easier to Park

EVs can be easier to park because there are currently more EV charging stations than EVs. Businesses can be granted funding by the government, and this means that many of them have installed EV chargers. Many public places such as car parks and train stations also feature EV charging points. These are often empty so it can be easier to find a parking space in a built-up area if you drive an EV. Don’t expect this advantage to last forever, but you might as well make use of it while you can.

They Offer a Great Driving Experience

They offer a fantastic driving experience because they are incredibly responsive when you put your foot down but they don’t increase in volume if you drive them at speed as some other cars do. The weight and distribution of the battery in an EV mean that they have a lower centre of gravity. This helps them to grip the road well and makes them an incredibly safe drive, even if you are driving fast.

They Hold Their Resale Value

Right now, EVs are holding their resale value a lot better than fuel-driven cars. This may be because the government is planning to ban fuel-driven cars in the next decade or so and these are no longer popular. However, it does mean that an EV can hold its price and when you are ready to sell, you will get a lot of interest from potential buyers.

Now is a brilliant time to consider switching to an EV as they have so many advantages you can enjoy.
