Twitter deal on hold pending details that spam/fake accounts do represent less than 5% of users

Twitter has estimated that false or spam accounts represented fewer than 5% of its monetizable daily active users during the first quarter.

Elon Musk who plans to buy Twitter said that the deal was on temporary hold pending the details regarding the number of fake and spam accounts. He went on to say that he was “Still committed to acquisition” and is now examining that figure.

Once he took over he said that one of his main plans was to “clean up” the platform, weeding out the bots and spam accounts that he believes drag it down.
