Citrix error – Proxy connection failed proxy server refused to establish a connection

If your trying to connect to a Citrix session via a web site and you get the following message

“Cannot connect to Citrix metaframe server. Proxy connection failed, proxy server refused to establish a connection”

You might think it’s your proxy server or firewall causing the problems, and start to waste time trying to by pass the proxy and firewalls etc. 

In this case it wasn’t that at all, the problem turned out that the user already had a Citrix Client installed on the PC but it was a old version, I fully removed Citrix client from the PC went to the website and lucky enough it prompted me to download the latest client which I did and it then started to work. 

Its worth noting that this was an older version of the Citrix client.
