VMware Workstation SetGuestInfo Null Pointer Dereference Denial-of-Service Vulnerability [CVE-2020-3999]

This vulnerability allows local attackers to create a denial-of-service condition on affected installations of VMware Workstation. An attacker must first obtain the ability to execute low-privileged code on the target guest system in order to exploit this vulnerability.

The specific flaw exists within the implementation of the SetGuestInfo RPC function. The issue results from dereferencing a null pointer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to create a denial-of-service condition on the hypervisor.
