OneCoin lawyer on trial for role in scam

The trial of the US lawyer accused of laundering some of the proceeds from the OneCoin cryptocurrency scam has just started in New York. Mark Scott is accused of routing approximately $400m (£310m) out of the US while trying to conceal the true ownership and source of the funds.

The government said the trial will take two to three weeks. There will be four alternate jurors. Jury selection is set for November 4th 2019.

In March 2019, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York issued a release announcing that the Manhattan U.S. Attorney will be charging the leaders of OneCoin. The release referred to OneCoin as a “pyramid scheme” that involves the sale of “fraudulent” crypto.

Once we know more about this case we will update you.
