OpenLDAP Root Distinguished Name Identity Authorization Vulnerability [CVE-2019-13057]

A vulnerability in OpenLDAP could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to bypass security restrictions on a targeted system. The vulnerability exists because the affected software does not properly authorize root distinguished name (rootDN) identities. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by making an authorization request as an identity from another database during a Simple Authentication and Security Layer (SASL) bind or with a proxyAuthz (RFC 4370) control. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to bypass security restrictions on the targeted system. OpenLDAP has confirmed the vulnerability and released a software update.
