British Airways passengers stranded after IT failure

An IT failure has caused chaos for BA as a total of 81 flights have been cancelled to or from Heathrow today and 10 Gatwick flights were cancelled. More than 200 other flights were delayed, reports suggest this is affecting up to 15,000 passengers.

BA said the issue was not a global outage, but a problem with two separate systems – one which deals with online check in, the other that deals with flight departures.

A BA spokesman said: “We are very sorry to our customers for the disruption to their travel plans. We are working as quickly as possible to resolve a systems issue which has resulted in a number of cancellations and delays today. A number of flights continue to operate but we are advising customers to check ba.com for the latest flight information before coming to the airport.”
