Microsoft Azure WALinuxAgent Information Disclosure Vulnerability [CVE-2019-0804]

CVE Number – CVE-2019-0804

A vulnerability in the WALinuxAgent component of Microsoft Azure could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to access sensitive information on a targeted system.

The vulnerability exists because the affected software creates swap files improperly. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending requests that submit malicious input to the affected software. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to view sensitive information in swap. The information accessed could be used to launch additional attacks.

Microsoft has confirmed the vulnerability and released software updates.

Analysis
