A vulnerability in the formatIPTCfromBuffer function of ImageMagick could allow a local attacker to access sensitive information or cause a denial of service (DoS) condition on a targeted system.The vulnerability is due to an off-by-one read error in the formatIPTCfromBuffer function, as defined in the coders/meta.c source code file of the affected software. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by submitting a file that submits malicious input to the targeted system. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to access sensitive information or cause a DoS condition on a targeted system.Proof-of-concept (PoC) code that demonstrates an exploit of this vulnerability is publicly available.ImageMagick has confirmed the vulnerability and released software updates.
