libssh2 Keyboard Interactive Response Messages Integer Overflow Vulnerability [CVE-2019-3863]

A vulnerability in libssh2 could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (DoS) condition on a targeted system.The vulnerability is due to improper checks of keyboard interactive response messages by the affected software. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by persuading a user to connect to an attacker-controlled Secure Shell (SSH) server, which would allow the attacker to send keyboard interactive response messages that submit malicious input to the targeted system. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to trigger an integer overflow condition, which could lead to an out-of-bounds write condition that the attacker could use to execute arbitrary code or cause a DoS condition.libssh2 has confirmed the vulnerability and released software updates.
Analysis
