Facebook, WhattsApp And Instagram Suffer Major Outage

Users across the world including the US, Japan, New Zealand and parts of Europe are affected by today’s outage and faced difficulties accessing Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram for several hours. The outages began Wednesday afternoon. Reports suggest services are now back online for the majority of users.

Facebook ended up taking to Twitter to keep users updated. And also confirmed that this was not a DDoS attack by saying “We’re focused on working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, but can confirm that the issue is not related to a DDoS attack.”

Facebook’s most severe outage ever is reportedly due to database problems.

According to the website DownDetector the biggest hit here in the UK was Instagram where at it’s peak 11753 issues were reported to the website, with Facebook having 6269 and WhatsAapp having 1940.
