Red Hat Ceph RGW Code Base Denial of Service Vulnerability [CVE-2018-16846]

CVE Number – CVE-2018-16846

A vulnerability in Red Hat Ceph could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to cause a denial of service (DoS) condition on a targeted system.The vulnerability exists in the RADOS Gateway (RGW) code base of the affected software and is due to improper bounds checking on the ListBucket max-keys function during bucket listing operations. An attacker with Ceph RGW user permissions could exploit this vulnerability to cause a DoS condition on object maps (OMAPs) holding bucket indexes on a targeted system.Red Hat Ceph has confirmed the vulnerability and released software updates.
