O2 network down – thousands of customers unable to access data

Thousands of O2 customers have reported problems using data and 4G services.  Customers on o2, Tesco Mobile, Sky Mobile and GiffGaff have also been hit by the outage.

Update – 06-12-2018 at 10:00am – In a statement o2 have said :-

We’re aware that our customers are unable to use data this morning. One of our third party suppliers has identified a global software issue in their system which has impacted us. We believe other mobile operators around the world are also affected. Our technical teams are working with their teams to ensure this is fixed as quickly as possible. We’d encourage our customers to use Wifi wherever they can and we apologise for the inconvenience caused.

The issues are understood to have started in the early hours of Thursday. A statement on the o2 website says: “Our technical teams are investigating reports of issues when using data.

Some users have received an alert to their mobiles warning of the drop in service. Some have also suggested that SMS test messaging might not be working, too, leaving them unable to send texts.

“Voice calls are working OK. We apologise for any inconvenience. Updates will be shared as soon as they are available. Please keep an eye on our status checker.”
