Poppler _poppler_attachment_new NULL Pointer Dereference Vulnerability [CVE-2018-19149]

A vulnerability in the _poppler_attachment_new function of Poppler could allow a local attacker to cause a denial of service (DoS) condition on a targeted system.The vulnerability is due to a NULL pointer dereference condition that could occur in the _poppler_attachment_new function of the affected software when a call is made from the poppler_annot_file_attachment_get_attachment function. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by executing a file or application that submits malicious input to the targeted system. A successful exploit could result in a DoS condition.Proof-of-concept (PoC) code that demonstrates an exploit of this vulnerability is publicly available.Poppler has confirmed the vulnerability and released software updates.
