JavaMelody parseSoapMethodName Function XML External Entity Vulnerability [CVE-2018-15531]

CVE Number –  CVE-2018-15531

A vulnerability in the parseSoapMethodName function of JavaMelody could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to conduct an XML external entity (XXE) attack on a targeted system.

The vulnerability exists in the parseSoapMethodName function, as defined in the bull/javamelody/PayloadNameRequestWrapper.java source code of the affected software. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by making a malicious file, FTP, or HTTP request to the targeted system. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to conduct an XXE attack, which could be used to access sensitive information or cause a denial of service (DoS) condition on the targeted system.

JavaMelody confirmed the vulnerability and released software updates.
