Debit Card Issues – Thousands Of Users Were Charged Twice

Thousands of people from the UK were charged twice for debit card payments on 29th August 2018.

The error occurred due to an issue with a particular card terminal run by Cardnet, a joint venture between Lloyds Bank and First Data.

In a statement they said :-

Cardnet encountered an incident which impacted both Cardnet customers and cardholders using their cards to make payments in their premises for a period during Wednesday 29th August.

For all cardholders incurring a duplicate payment, payments have been refunded to your account as of Tuesday 4th September.

For Cardnet customers (merchants), the majority of corrections are now complete and we anticipate that expected settlement of funds will be credited to you by Wednesday 5th September.

We apologise sincerely for this issue and the inconvenience caused to both Cardnet customers and to impacted consumers.
