LFTP Remote File Names Unauthorized Access Vulnerability [CVE-2018-10916]

A vulnerability in LFTP could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to gain unauthorized access to a targeted system.
The vulnerability exists because the affected software improperly sanitizes remote file names. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by persuading a user to use reverse mirroring on a malicious FTP server. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to gain unauthorized access to the targeted system, resulting in the loss of files in the current working directory.
The vendor has confirmed the vulnerability and released a software patch.
