Visa Payment Network Crashes In UK And Across Europe
Visa Card payments are failing across the UK and elsewhere in Europe. Customers have been complaining that payments are being declined, but some report contactless transactions are proving more successful.
Barclays and Bank of Ireland advised customers to use ATMs to withdraw cash, which appear to still be working.
Disappointed shoppers have been unable to purchase items using chip and pin machines with many reporting failed transactions at major supermarkets including Asda, Sainsbury’s and Aldi, who pay Visa to manage their card payments.
Visa is working to resolve the issue but one payments firm said transactions were now working intermittently, but there was a backlog.
We are currently experiencing a service disruption which is preventing some Visa transactions in Europe from being processed. We are investigating the cause and working as quickly as possible to resolve the situation. We will keep you updated.

The Visa website, proudly states: ” No other card is more widely accepted around the world than Visa debit.”
There is currently no estimated time for when the issue will be resolved.
Update 21:50pm (01-06-2018) – Visa say that all services are now almost running at normal service, they say the issue was caused by a hardware error.
